Though there are no official records, Chicaro was known to have won at least nine races against open competition. He was very versatile, and was entered in halter and performance classes. Chicaro sired 179 registered foals, 47 of which were race starters that earned a combined total of $40,500. Notable offspring include Chicaro’s Slick Chick, Chic Appeal, Chic Supreme, Madame Chic and Count Chic. As a sire, he ranked just behind Apache King S. and Navajo Britches in number of starters, though his percentage of winners was higher. From 1962 through 1972, Chicaro was either the leading or in the top three for sire with the most winners. He died in 1976 and was buried at Alan’s ranch in Kuna.
